Burns & McDonnell Industrial Engineering Intern - Manufacturing (Oklahoma City) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma


An Intern will work collaboratively with our teams to support a Burns & McDonnell Department, Global Practice or Regional Office. This position will provide support and assistance with requests in support of the business strategy.

Global Facilities (GFS)

An Industrial Engineering Intern will assist in analysis and design of Warehouse Logistics, Automation, Continuous Improvement, Material Handling, Human Factors and Ergonomics for a variety of industries.

Duties May Include:

  • Assist with process mapping for manufacturing and material handling operations.

  • Site visits to analyze existing systems.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.

  • Present solutions to concerns.

  • Research automation solutions; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.

  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.

  • Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, Power Point presentation.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Pursuit of Bachelor's of Science in Industrial, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community.

  • Basic knowledge in standard engineering techniques, principles and procedures.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.

  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)

  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
