Burns & McDonnell Deskside IT Intern - Corporate IT (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

An Intern will work collaboratively with our teams to support a Burns & McDonnell Department. This position will provide support and assistance with requests in support of the business strategy.

  • Assist with installation, repair and replacement of computer and computer-related hardware.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and installation of Windows, Microsoft Office, and other standard software packages.

  • Ensure accurate inventory of devices and their assignment to users through detailed documentation in ticketing system.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolution of Audio Visual (AV) related issues, including meeting setup support, hardware warranty, or cabling issues.

  • Assist with AV support during presentations and company-sponsored events

  • Assist with IT processes for daily and project-based activities.

  • Assist with support for customers in all Burns & McDonnell locations via phone, video, e-mail, and in-person to resolve issues.

  • Assist with incidents assigned from other IT groups or non IT sources.

  • Assist with identifying and documenting accurate resolution steps for recurring issues in knowledgebase.

  • Assist with training and education to Burns & McDonnell employees on usage of IT systems.

  • Participate in Problem and Change Management processes as necessary.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • In pursuit of Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, cyber security or closely related degree.

  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
