Description
The Energy of Burns & McDonnell seeks an Intern to work within the Electrical Department. The Intern will support all aspects of software development related to electrical systems design software platforms.
Responsibilities include:
Develop an understanding of both electrical systems design and associated design software platforms.
Assist with developing and implementing systems software including utilities and other tools required to improve the design capabilities of the design software platforms.
Gather and understand team member requirements for development of design software functionality.
Create engineering and construction specific software programming including databases, cloud-based solutions, laser scanning, generative design, and reality capture equipment.
Assist the team with analyzing, recommending, implementing and managing the design software.
Assist in identifying new software releases or solutions for the design software.
Assist in identifying new technologies and alternative systems to enhance electrical design capabilities.
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Pursuit of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department.
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
