Burns & McDonnell Assistant Environmental Scientist - Mitigation Banking (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri
The Mitigation Banking group at Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Environmental Scientist with demonstrated skills in the environmental field to assist the team with development, construction, operation, and maintenance of wetland and wildlife mitigation banks across the U.S. Tasks include, but are not limited to, Research, Field Studies, Sales, Marketing, Entitlement, and Program Administration.
Land Acquisition and Entitlement
Property identification research
Assist with biological field surveys including habitat assessments, presence/absence surveys, and wetland delineations
Land Purchase Agreement terms tracking
Title research and interface with title company
Entitlement document synthesis
Provide support during project development, maintenance and monitoring
General administrative support for projects.
Organize and maintain project files, filing system and project communications.
Track status of projects and produce monthly progress reports. Maintain tracking system for projects.
Update record copies, engineering project documentation and changes.
Provide information to facilitate questions regarding projects and prepare research information.
Record minutes from Project Manager/team meetings.
Prepare memos, correspondence, reports and other documents as requested.
Prepare outgoing mailings and labels, including e-mail and fax.
Reserve conference rooms and coordinate client, vendor and/or supplier presentations, meetings and interviews, including set-up and cleanup.
Schedule and set-up client interviews, presentations and other meetings as requested.
Assist in clerical needs on projects.
Assist with biological field work, as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
Internal Client Relationship Management (CRM) tracking and evaluation of potential opportunities
Monitoring public databases for project development activity (i.e. CEQAnet.ca.gov)
Data gathering from multiple sources, synthesis and mapping
Website and flyer coordination
Monitoring transactions at Burns & McDonnell sponsored banks
Managing web based and telephone inquiries for environmental offsets
Manage sales contracts for environmental offsets
Manage credit ledger tracking for multiple banks, including:
Internal ledger tracking
Agency ledger tracking and reporting
Endowment and other financial obligation funding, tracking and reporting
Track credit release schedules, performance
Knowledgeable on credit types, service areas, applicability
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology or a related natural science degree from an accredited program required.
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
0-3 years of related professional experience in data gathering, synthesis, management and presentation preferred.
Prior internship or natural science field experience preferred.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
Basic knowledge of environmental site assessment methods.
Basic knowledge of environmental compliance and compliance audits.
Basic knowledge of the environmental permitting process.
Basic knowledge of GPS and working in the ArcGIS desktop environment.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
