Burns & McDonnell Assistant Applications Specialist - Feature Manipulation Engine in Kansas City, Missouri
The Assistant Application Specialist will assist in the development of Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) based solutions to support our Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice. This position would support all of our practice areas within ENS, including natural resources, cultural resources, remediation, environmental compliance, stakeholder management, siting and NEPA resources. This position will also work collaboratively with and provide technical assistance to other Burns & McDonnell GIS groups and innovation teams within and outside of the United States.
Assist with developing solutions for applications, reports and dashboards for internal and external clients.
Assist with implementation efforts for innovative initiatives supporting the division in alignment with core values.
Assist with researching and compiling new software applications to support project delivery and data management initiatives.
Assist in compiling information from disciplines and different business units to develop software and technology that will optimize business intelligence, provide seamless integration, and improve data management.
Assist with the development and maintenance of custom software applications.
Adhere to and be responsible for compliance with Burns & McDonnell Safety and Quality Control programs.
Ensure compliance with company and customer policies.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. Equivalent experience and coursework are also acceptable.
Proficient knowledge and ability to utilize FME Form (formerly desktop) and FME Flow (formerly server) preferred.
Prior knowledge and experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Model Builder, database management, and other GIS platforms preferred.
Experience with Agile and Waterfall models of software development preferred.
Understanding of software and hardware system architecture.
Excellent analytical skills.
Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
