Burns & McDonnell Assistant Compliance Specialist - EHS Comp & Inspect (Houston) in Houston, Texas

Description

The Assistant Compliance Specialist will assist on various environmental air permitting, analysis, and compliance projects. This position will assist with multi-media environmental compliance audits; environmental site assessments; mitigation measure implementation, write and edit plans for various projects with a diverse portfolio of project types and clients.

  • Assists in monitoring state and federal regulatory developments (proposed and promulgated rule making, notices, etc.), trends (regulatory and intra company), and assists in assessing impacts of applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Assists in developing and implementing compliance tools and remediation project strategies.

  • Assists with environmental incident investigations.

  • Assists with site audits and other company audit initiatives.

  • Assists with building and maintaining good working relationships with regulatory agencies such as: Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Air & Radiation, Office of Enforcement & Compliance, etc.

  • Assists in the development of basic environmental compliance training materials.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field from an accredited program is required. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

  • Previous internship experience, including hazardous site assessment experience, such as Phase I, Phase II, and remediation is preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of environmental regulatory guidelines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office are required.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is preferred.

  • Valid driver's license required. In addition, must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
