Burns & McDonnell Assistant Air/Noise Specialist - Air Quality & Noise (Houston) in Houston, Texas


The Assistant Air and Noise Specialist will provide assistance in air and noise permitting services in the power, industrial, commercial, transportation and manufacturing industries. This includes performing air and noise quality analyses and permitting, environmental regulatory analysis and interpretation of environmental regulations.

  • Assist in preparation of air permit application packages.

  • Provide assistance in conducting air quality and noise impact analysis FOR?.

  • Assist in environmental compliance audits.

  • Assist in air dispersion modeling using Environmental Protection Agency approved modeling programs such as AERMOD.

  • Support senior staff in performing environmental site assessments and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state and federal air quality requirements.

  • Perform emission calculations and estimates for routine emissions as well as maintenance, startup and shutdown emissions.

  • Assist with preparation of technical reports and technical specifications FOR.

  • Field assessments OF.

  • Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field from an accredited program required.

  • Prior internship or experience related to air pollution permitting and compliance preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations with emphasis on the Clean Air Act, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, Title V Permitting, Title VI Ozone Depleting Substances.

  • Basic knowledge of air quality dispersion models such as AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF, VISCREEN, PLUVUE and SLAB.

  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.

  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
