Burns & McDonnell GIS/Geospatial Intern - Technology Consulting (Brea) in Brea, California

An Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Intern will work collaboratively with our project teams of scientists, architects, designers and engineers to create world class design on a variety of projects. This position will assist in developing geological solutions.

  • Assist with the integration of multiple source data sets with project management tools and utilize GIS tools to develop maps and analysis

  • Assist with developing programs, applications, quality assurance of of GIS tools and interfaces for intern and external clients

  • Assist with mapping, cartography, and database management of project

  • Research design solutions to client questions; analyze and recommend solutions to design problems.

  • Research evironmental solutions to project concerns and analyze and recommend solutions.

  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Geographical Information Science, Geography or related degree.

  • Must be currently enrolled in good standing. Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.
