Burns & McDonnell Economic Analyst Intern - Environmental Services, Environmental Engineering (Austin) in Austin, Texas

Description

The Environmental Services group is responsible for the full life cycle of infrastructure development, from permitting new projects, to the remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. They support a variety of clients including those in the transportation, manufacturing, industrial, oil and gas, chemical and utility spaces. They also work with municipal, state, and federal government clients. An Economic Analyst Intern will work collaboratively with our teams to support a Burns & McDonnell Department, Global Practice or Regional Office. This position will provide support and assistance with requests in support of the business strategy.

The Burns & McDonnell Solid Waste and Resource Recovery Practice advises local, regional and state governmental clients and private companies on their challenging solid waste and recycling issues. Services include developing solid waste plans, operational reviews, procurement projects, cost of service and financial feasibility and engineering projects.

  • Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, Power Point presentation.

  • Assist with responses to general questions.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.

  • Present solutions to concerns.

  • Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.

  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of Bachelor's degree in economics or related degree from an accredited program with at least one year of post-secondary education.

  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department. Required

  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience Preferred

  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
